Why You Need a Salon Selfie Station

As with any business, salons and stylists experience high and low seasons. It’s essential to take advantage of the highs to help drive your business all year long. The holiday season is one of the few occasions where your clients are open to taking it up a notch, so why not show off and flaunt your creations?

A really easy way to do this is to set up a themed selfie station in your salon. Promote your stylists’ skills by asking each client to take a photo showing off their holiday hairstyle at the selfie station. Encourage them to post it on Instagram and tag the salon.

You can offer a small gift as a special incentive to participate. Be sure to have seasonal props on hand to make this a fun activity for your guests.

It’s very likely that you’re booked solid during this time of year, so gaining social media followers may not be your top priority. But think of this as planting seeds for the low season—you’re keeping current customers engaged while attracting new ones. There is truly never a bad time to promote yourself!

What you’ll need:

  • A backdrop (clean wall or custom step-and-repeat)
  • Good lighting (ring lights are a great investment)
  • Themed props (favorite Moroccanoil products, ornaments, snowflakes, etc.)
  • A sign with your Instagram handle and suggested hashtags
  • Optional: holiday frame

The payoff from a salon selfie station is definitely worth the minimal effort and cost involved. Plus, you can reuse the materials for future events, or even have a permanent selfie station for year-round promotion!
