I know, you’re in shock that the holiday season is already here. Was it not just yesterday that your team was kicking back after a crazy—but successful—2015 holiday season? Well, here we go again!
Luckily, this time of year is fun and festive—it’s the perfect chance to bring cheer to your salon.
Here are a few ways to keep your staff engaged and motivated throughout an often exhausting and stressful time:
Retail and service incentives, contests, goals…whatever you want to call them! Help your team push through those long hours by giving them something extra to work for. Build excitement with surprise one-day-only incentives. For example, place a $100 dollar bill at the register and announce that whoever sells the most product that day goes home with the prize. Remember to include your front desk staff: they are vital to the execution of a smooth holiday season.
It’s safe to say that during this busy time, stylists overexert themselves and forget to take care of their own well-being. Make their lives a little easier by bringing the care to them. Hold weekly or biweekly appreciation days with catered meals and special treats. Go a step further by giving your team small gifts or tokens (like gift cards) throughout the season.
Head to Costco and stock your back room with all the essentials to keep your team on their toes: healthy drinks and snacks (throw some junk food in for good measure!), foot spray, shoe inserts, mini-massagers and Cold-fX to keep the seasonal sniffles at bay.
And remember to have fun—we call it “HAPPY Holidays” for a reason!
