To earn a raise, you need to work a little harder and a little smarter.

MAKE THE COMMITMENT
Service upgrades are often an afterthought. Make a habit of looking at your book every morning and plan which services you will recommend to your guests to improve the health, shine and elasticity of their hair. These quick add-ons can make a massive difference in how your clients feel about you; they will remember your professionalism, attention to detail and level of care, not the extra cost.

CANCELLATIONS ARE OPPORTUNITIES 
Unfortunately, last-minute cancellations are a reality of the business. Make the most of these situations by being proactive. Why not use social media to fill that spot? Post on Instagram or Facebook: “Available Friday at 4:00 pm! Book this appointment today and receive a complimentary mask treatment, valued at $20.”

SET SALES GOALS
Failing to plan is planning to fail! Set achievable goals for yourself, like selling one product to every client during the month of February. I know, you hate selling—but look at it from the consumer’s perspective. When is the last time you indulged in some new makeup or a pair of shoes? Didn’t it make you feel great? Your clients want that feeling too, so make sure you’re the one selling to them.

Make these three small changes and give yourself a nice raise this year!
