Many of us place importance on the number of Instagram followers we have. It’s often used as a measure of success–the more followers, the better! But in reality, the number of followers you have doesn’t bring true value to your business. When it comes to your Instagram strategy, getting followers is only the first step. Converting them into customers is what will actually make a difference to your bottom line.
So, how do you get your customers out of cyber-space and into the salon? You must use a call to action!
A call to action (or CTA) is an instruction to your followers that will provoke an immediate response. Almost everything you post on Instagram should incite a specific response from your audience.
When deciding on a CTA to include in your caption or Instagram Story, you first need to establish your goal. What exactly do you want your followers to do? Then, think of what will entice them to act.
Attract New Clients
If your goal is to attract new clients, consider hosting a contest. You can center the contest around seasonal focuses or holidays that will appeal to your audience. For example, a Valentine’s Day giveaway.
A simple CTA formula to use for contests is: “Comment below and tag 2 friends for a chance to win…” By tagging their friends, your followers will expose your brand to their social circles, allowing you to reach more of your target demographic.
Promote a Service
You may want to promote a particular salon service during a slow period. In this case, you’ll want to create a CTA that encourages clients to book an appointment.
“Cure the winter blues with a fresh, new color! Book your color appointment in February and receive a complimentary ChromaTech service.”
Increase Retail Sales
There are many ways to feature product on Instagram. The key is to show your followers how they will benefit from the product.
“Which festival look is your favorite? Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray creates perfectly undone styles! Stop by the salon to get yours.” Captions like this are doubly effective, as they prompt followers to leave a comment in addition to promoting your initial goal.
The more CTAs you use, the more engagement you’ll create with your following, and the more new business you’ll acquire.
