Everyone knows that getting a team to share the same vision, philosophy and mission is challenging to say the least!
The bad news: it can be a daunting and discouraging task!
The good news: it’s absolutely possible!
Small shifts in thinking can drive huge change in any business. All you need is consistency, repetition, and most importantly, to give your team a voice.
We often forget that sailing the ship alone is not always the best way to get to our desired destination. Here are three easy things you can do to start changing the way you and your team think.
WHAT’S YOUR MISSION?
Reassess your current mission statement. Is it realistic? Is it achievable? Does it connect with your team? Does your statement truly reflect your brand, or is it just another pretty sentence that reads well but has no real value or true meaning to your team and your customers? Ask your team for their thoughts on all of the above.
DETERMINE YOUR TARGET
Like any successful company, you need to know who you are targeting and which demographic you are trying to attract. What age group and what income bracket are they in? What expectations do they have? Without a clear target, you are simply in business to be in business without a clear strategy on how to be successful and profitable.
More often than not, salon meetings are about what we should NOT be doing, versus what we COULD be doing! Focusing on the WHY behind your decisions will help shift critical thinking. One way to do this is to get everyone involved. As a team, try creating your ideal customer profile: what can we do to surprise them? What would they appreciate?
By sharing ideas together, you can come up with plans and actions that everyone can and will want to own. Building these together instead of imposing them makes a huge difference.
Remember: the most valuable resource you have is your team!
